WHAT IS PRESCHOOL?
- Preschool provide early education and care for children age 4 - 6 before they enter the primary school.
- Approved to operate by Department of Education and Communities under the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulation.
- Operation hour from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm, some from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm on weekdays ( Monday to Friday).
- Majority preschool operate in line of public school terms and close during public school holidays.
- Preschool must follow minimum staffing levels set by National Regulation : -one staff for every 10 children aged between 4 to 6 years
- Many preschool employ at least university-qualified teacher. Well qualified and experienced staff are highly regarded in the preschool sector. Its can be managed by community organisation, church or local government or managed by a parent committee.

- Preschool promotes social and emotional development. A young child need to feel cared for and secure with a teacher or caregiver. At 4 years old child is able to spend time away from parents and build trusting relationships with adult outside the family, high-quality preschool programs nurture warm relationship among children, teachers and parents. Young children learn social skills and emotional self-control in "real time", 4 to 6 years old learn through their experiences and good teachers make time for those "teachable moments" when they can help children learn to manage frustration or anger.
